Quantum Culture

A practical method for strategy development
in the age of open source culture

Quantum Culture helps organizations to create flexible, dynamic, and more effective strategies by recognizing and building on their uniqueness, and by connecting around the values, ideas, and practices of their community.

Quantum Culture is a method which comprises a workbook (a magazine and eight themed deep dive foldouts with best practices and exercises), and a series of workshops.

About Quantum Culture

Quantum Culture is a practical and accessible method which helps organizations to create flexible, dynamic, and more effective strategies by recognizing and building on their uniqueness, and by connecting around the values, ideas, and practices of their community.

At the core of Quantum Culture lies the belief that there is much diversity among people and the organizations they create, and that these differences create opportunities.

Every organization is unique and develops along a singular path. What works well in one situation for one organization, might not work elsewhere. Quantum Culture is a non-judgmental platform and does not recognize rigid approaches and one-size-fits-all solutions to organizational development.

Quantum Culture focuses on scanning, mapping, and analyzing your organization’s specific situation and needs, and offers potential solutions that work for you. The structure of the method is such that it will provide you with highly precise and individual insights into your strengths and weaknesses before you start developing a strategy for your organization. This will enable you to focus on your priorities while maintaining a bird’s eye view of your longer-term ambitions.

Quantum Culture applies to traditional public institutions, but also to social, cultural, and political associations, community initiatives, start-ups, SMEs and larger businesses, educational institutions, and all other organized groups that rely on community support for their success.

About the method

How people organize culture is shaped by geographical location, natural resources, technology, politics, and by trends and developments in society. This presents itself through different culture models: a specific combination of values, ideas, and practices shared among and between communities.

We have identified a series of culture models and built the Quantum Culture method on the three most dominant of those models. These co-exist in all organizations to some degree. To which degree depends on the organization. Being aware of these models and to which degree they define your organization gives you the ability to develop or adopt a much more effective strategy.

Quantum Culture is built on eight themes, each of which you can explore across the three different culture models. As such, the method is flexible enough to dynamically describe every possible strategic approach to a contemporary and relevant organization of culture.

The workbook

The Quantum Culture method starts with a workbook that consists of a magazine and eight differently themed foldouts. The magazine guides you through the initial steps of the method and helps you to summarize the results of your work and translate this into action. You will do most of the actual work on each of the eight foldouts.
The eight themes of Quantum Culture influence and interact with each other, and together they form the levers with which you can strategize and change an organization.

The first four themes (Story, Audience, Community, and Society) are mostly about how the organization relates to the outside world. The second set of four (Leadership, People, Location, and Technology) deals primarily with internal aspects of the organization.

Workshops and other services

Every organization is unique and develops along a singular path. What works well in one situation for one organization, might not work elsewhere. Quantum Culture is a non-judgmental platform and does not recognize rigid approaches and one-size-fits-all solutions to organizational development.
